Waiting the call to duty in WP's Stockton Yard, caboose 306 looks to have many more years of service ahead of it.  A capital budget in 1972 called for replacing this caboose with a steel car.  No WP subsidiary ever rostered a steel caboose.  It may have become part of a resturant in Santa Cruz, California and been destroyed in the fire that consumed the resturant building, itself the former Southern Pacific Santa Cruz depot.
