The engineer services the bell as 100 and TS second 1 rest with a short train at the Modesto terminal.  Motor 106 waits its turn on the next track over.  This nouthbound train is preparing to head onto the Ninth Street trackage, having just gained the juice jack for its city mandated smoke-less run through the heart of town. 

The Modesto terminal was located at 9th and D Streets.  In this view, Mr. Savage is perhaps 150 feet south of E Street, shooting the train preparing to depart for Stockton.
